Terms and Conditions for Eligible Guests at SLOW in the City

By entering and making use of the SLOW in the City facility(“the Facility”) managed by Kulula Air (Pty) Ltd (trading as “SLOW in the City”),any person (“you”) agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below:

1. Access

a) SLOW in the City (“SLOW”) reserves the right to deny  access to the Facility to anyone whose behavior or standard of dress does not comply with the SLOW house rule in terms of clause 10 below.s.

b) You shall be granted access to the Facility based on the qualifying criteria set out by SLOW  from time to time (“the Eligible Guest”).

c) The Eligible Guest shall select a tariff (“Access Package”) based on its individual requirements that will determine the fees for access to and services within the Facility.

d) The Eligible Guest will normally be required to purchase access to the Facility. The fee will be determined by the Access Package selected by the Eligible Guest.

Companions

a) Eligible Guests may invite their own guests (“Companions”) to join them at the Facility on the following terms:

I. SLOW reserves the right to refuse the admission of any Companion on the grounds of non compliance with the SLOW house rule specified in clause 10 below.s.

II. The Eligible Guest will be charged a fee for each Companion admitted to the Facility based on the Access Package selected by the Eligible Guest.

2. Meeting Rooms

a) An Eligible Guest may reserve meeting rooms within the Facility. SLOW  will charge the Eligible Guest for the use of the room based the actual duration of usage according to the tariffs applicable for use of the meeting room at the particular timef.

b) Bookings may be cancelled by the Eligible Guest in writing or by email up to 4 hours prior to the start time of the meeting without having to pay a reasonable cancellation fee.

c) Where an Eligible Guest fails either to utilise a booking or to notify SLOW of its need to cancel their booking at least 4 hours prior to the booking, SLOW  reserves the right to charge the Eligible Guest a cancellation fee.

d) No charge will be made to Eligible Guests who wish to use an unreserved meeting room.

3. Payment

a) Prior to leaving the facility, an Eligible Guest will be presented with a bill detailing all the services consumed during their visit to the Facility including the fee for access.

b) An Eligible Guest must settle its bill before departing the Facility by credit card  .

c) SLOW  cannot accept any cash payments or any other form of payment other than by VISA or Mastercard credit cards.

d) Any overdue accounts shall be subject to interest at the prevailing FNB’s prime interest rate.

e) All charges shall be subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
 

4. Services and Facilities

a) SLOW  shall attempt to provide  the Facility and/or all the services advertised  . If for any reason the Facility and/or  any service is not available, SLOW shall attempt provide an alternative facility and/or service or timeous notification to the Eligible Guest of the withdrawal of the Facility and/or  service.

b) The Eligible Guest shall not affix any items onto the walls, floor, ceilings or doors of any meeting and function rooms.

5. Food and Beverages

An Eligible Guest and  its Companions shall not bring any food or drink into SLOW  for consumption in the Facility without the prior written permission from the manager of SLOW . A wine corkage fee of R75.00 (Seventy Five Rand) per bottle shall be charged.

6. Branding

a) The Eligible Guest shall not display any signage, banners or branding inside our outside the Facility except where approved in advance, in writing, by SLOW.

7. Compensation for Damage

a) The Eligible Guest shall compensate SLOW  and/or its agents/suppliers or third parties for any loss,  damage caused by the Eligible Guest or its Companions to the Facility or any other third party making use of the Facility. The Eligible Guest will be responsible for the full cost of compensation, replacement or repair of any such loss or  damage, as  determined by SLOW . The Eligible Guest confirms that this provision has been drawn to its attention and that an adequate opportunity has been afforded for it to receive and comprehend the provision.

8. Indemnity

a) SLOW shall not be liable for any loss, death, injury or damage, whatsoever caused, to the Eligible Guest and/or the Eligible Guest’s Companions whilst in or making use of the Facility  except where such loss, death, injury or damage is as a direct result of the gross negligence and/or willful misconduct of SLOW , its employees or agents.

b) The Eligible Guest indemnifies and holds harmless SLOW  against all claims, demands or causes of action, including damages and legal fees and expenses arising out of the purchase and use of facilities at SLOW .  The Eligible Guest also indemnifies SLOW  against any claim based on the conduct of the Eligible Guest, and its Companions in the Facility.

c) The Eligible Guest confirms that this provision has been drawn to its attention and that an adequate opportunity has been afforded for it to receive and comprehend the provision.

9. Safety and Security

a) Smoking is prohibited in the Facility.  The Eligible Guest and its Companions wishing to smoke must utilize designated smoking areas outside of the Facility.

b) The Eligible Guest and its Companions are required to comply with all existing safety and security legislation and regulations as communicated to them by SLOW

10. House Rules

a)  SLOW has a specific Dress Code - the minimum dress requirement is Smart Casual. 

b)  Attire not allowed in the Facility at any time are singlets or sleeveless tops for men, shorts or ¾ pants, no sportswear, or men’s sandals, work boots or sneakers, jeans with holes or cuts.

c) SLOW does not permit any inebriated or bad behavior within the Facility and/or meeting rooms that could disturb the peace, good order or quiet enjoyment of the Facility by the other guests.

d)  Eligible Guests and Companions are required at all times to comply with the reasonable requests and/or instructions of SLOW management relating to the Eligible Guests and Companions use of the Facility and/or meeting rooms.

e)  Should the Eligible Guests and/or Companions not comply with these house rules, SLOW will be entitled to expel them or deny them access to the Facility or meeting rooms.

11. Vacating Premises and Overrun Charges

a) The Eligible Guest and its Companions must vacate SLOW  immediately at closing time designated by the manager and/or the employees of SLOW .

Calmness meets capability, where your every business need is inconspicuously catered for. Whether you need to find a private place to present, a cocoon to confer, a space to spread out, a corner to catch-up or refreshments to revive your body and mind, they are all on hand,

This guide will outline the benefits you can expect from SLOW in the City as a SLOWmember.

Access and Operating Hours

We are open from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.

Please produce your SLOWkey at reception on arrival.

In order to maintain a standard of exclusivity for SLOWmembers and guests, we reserve the right to refuse access or to remove anyone who ignores the rules contained in this SLOWmembership guide.

As a SLOWmember, you are welcome to access SLOW in the City for up to 10 days during each month of membership. SLOW in the City is not designed to replace your primary workplace (or indeed your home!) so we will charge you the standard daily access fee for eligible guests (non members) if you require access after you have exceeded 10 days in any month.

Account facility

Each SLOWmember may open an Account facility to pay for food, drinks and other expenses incurred at SLOW in the City. Your Account must be preloaded and can be recharged at any time by credit card at SLOW in the City or by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Should you have insufficient funds in your Account, you will be requested to settle the outstanding balance before you leave SLOW in the City.

Bistro

Our Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, all day snacks and evening Bites. SLOW in the City is fully licensed with a selection of wines and premium liquors. All items ordered during your visit can be settled by credit card or using the SLOWmember’s Account facility. Cash is unfortunately not accepted. No food or drink can be brought into SLOW in the City unless by prior written arrangement with us.

British Airways Executive Club

As a SLOWmember you automatically become a Blue status member of the British Airways frequent flyer program Executive Club. As an Executive Club member you will get access to special offers, time-saving features when you fly with British Airways and earn Avios points to spend on flights, hotels and more.

Car Rental

As a SLOWmember you are eligible for preferential rates from Europcar (subject to availability). Should you require car rental or a chauffeur driven service, please book through our hosts.

Flight check-in and departures information

A self-service check-in facility is available to enable you to check in and print your boarding pass for most airlines departing from OR Tambo International Airport. Any hold baggage must be checked in at the airport. A flight information board for flights leaving OR Tambo is located in SLOW in the City’s reception.

Guests

You are welcome to invite guests to join you at SLOW in the City. If intend you have 3 or more guests with you, please inform us in advance to ensure that your guests can be accommodated. You are responsible for the conduct of your guests and guests cannot remain at SLOW in the City without you being present. To encourage guests to become SLOWmembers, you may only bring in the same guest twice a month without prior arrangement with us.

House Rules

a) It is expected that SLOWmembers will show consideration for each other and refrain from doing anything that would adversely affect their fellow guests’ enjoyment of SLOW in the City.
b) Our dress code is “Smart Casual”. Work boots, overalls, dirty or other clothing that would not normally be acceptable in a professional office environment is not accepted in SLOW in the City either.
c) Any drunken or bad behaviour that could disturb the peace, good order or quiet enjoyment of SLOW in the City by the other guests is not allowed.
d) As SLOW in the City is a place to conduct business, children under 18 years are not permitted access unless by prior agreement with us.
e) Alcohol can only be served to those over the age of 18 years of age.
f) SLOWmembers and their guests are required at all times to comply with the reasonable requests and/or instructions from us.

SLOW’s House Rules are enforced to ensure SLOWmembers reap the most benefit and enjoyment at SLOW in the City. If anyone fails to comply with these House Rules, we will be required to take appropriate measures to protect SLOW in the City and other SLOWmembers and their guests. This may include your removal from the facility, denying you access and cancellation of your SLOWmembership.

Lockers and Cloakroom

ALL ITEMS BROUGHT INTO SLOW IN THE CITY BY YOU REMAIN YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT ALL TIMES. Baggage may be left in the cloakroom during your stay by arranging this with our hosts at reception on arrival. Locker facilities are also provided in the Wash Rooms if you wish to leave personal belongings for the duration of your visit. WE WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY FOR ANY ITEMS LEFT IN THE LOCKERS OR THE CLOAKROOM. ALL ITEMS ARE LEFT AT THE SLOWMEMBER’S OWN RISK.

Parking

As a SLOWmember we can arrange a Gautrain hotel parking ticket for you at a flat rate. This can be added to your bill and settled at the end of your stay.

Partner offers

As a SLOWmember, you are eligible for exclusive offers on selected products and services that may be made available from SLOW’s partners from time to time.

Printing

Print/fax/copy facilities are provided at SLOW in the City at an additional charge.

Private events

SLOWmembers are welcome to reserve the entire venue if they so wish. Please ask our hosts for more details.

Reciprocal access to Overseas Clubs

We currently have a reciprocal arrangement with The Hospital Club, an exclusive business club located in Soho in the heart of London, which entitles you to access for up to 10 days per year.

Shower facility

SLOWmembers can use the shower facilities and have their clothes steam pressed at no charge. Shower amenity packs are available at an additional charge.

SLOWagenda

SLOWmembers will be invited by email or SMS to exclusive SLOW events that may be organised by us.

SLOW Lounge Access

When travelling with British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) or with kulula.com you are welcome to have complimentary access to our SLOWlounges located in the Domestic Terminals at OR Tambo, Cape Town and Durban King Shaka Airports. In addition, you may access the SLOW Lounge at OR Tambo International terminal when travelling internationally on any airline.

You may take one guest with you, provided that they are travelling on the same flight. To ensure we provide a SLOW experience, access is subject to sufficient space being available, as determined by the Lounge Hosts.

Services and Facilities

We try to provide you all the services advertised and described in this document but cannot guarantee their availability at all times.

Smoking

In keeping with South African Government legislation, smoking is prohibited at SLOW in the City. SLOWmembers and their guests wanting to smoke are requested to use designated smoking areas outside SLOW in the City.

Transferability of SLOWmembership

SLOWmembership is based on a named individual and is non transferable.

Use of private meeting rooms

There is no rental or reservation charge for meeting rooms when used by a SLOWmember for up to 4 hours per day when the SLOW member is present for the duration of the meeting. Rooms can be reserved by phone, email or at the events desk. For our kitchen to be prepared for you, you will be required to order a catering package if you are hosting more than 5 guests.

Video Conference facilities

There is a video conference facility that may be reserved for use by SLOWmembers. We need 48 hours notice of the details of the parties in your meeting in order for us to test connectivity and to bill you correctly.

Wi-Fi and Internet

Complimentary Wi-Fi and Internet stations are provided to SLOWmembers. SLOWmembers are asked not to access or download games, online gambling, and any material of an offensive or sexual nature. The Internet connectivity is provided for business purposes and should not be abused.

1.1 Persons accessing the SLOW in the City ("Complete SLOW in the City (Pty) Ltd") web site for any reason whatsoever (a "User" or "Users"), subject themselves to and agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy of as set out below.
